The Governance, Quality and Assurance (GQA) section is one of seven divisional sections within the Catholic Education Office. GQA leads and supports the provision of specialist governance and quality assurance practices, innovation and services. For 2020, the section comprised the following broad functions:
Specific governance and quality assurance aspects underway through 2020 included the establishment of a framework of policies, procedures and templates for the newly established Project Management Office. This included the introduction of phases of assessment of projects, including initial feasibility assessments, formal options analyses and the enhancement of practices related to the development of business cases.
Additionally, GQA commenced development of a formal risk assessment framework, in accordance with the International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO) 31000 – Risk Management. A software application, specific for the management of risk registers, CAMMS, was procured and, along with the risk management framework, will be rolled out across the Catholic Education Office from 2021.

Other work included the day to day management of privacy matters across CESA, as well as copyright licensing and general commercial advice/review of various school and office related agreements.
